Here I go again...

I decided, from now on, to try and keep track of all the books I read so I can remember which ones I liked and such.

The Weight of Silence by Heather Gudenkauf. This was a dramatic novel about two little girls that go missing. Hmm...I liked it enough to finish it but I didn't really ENJOY it. How can you enjoy stories with this subject matter? It was a book chosen for book club...NEXT month. I am a little ahead, I think because The Help got me all excited to read again. My first thought after this book ended was 'Why would someone want to make up such a devastating story!' I mean, I know you can't write about kitties and butterflies all the time...not that I want to read about kitties and butterflies. Anyway you get the gist, right? If you like darker stories, you might enjoy it. Not my favorite, but it did pass the time.

Garden Spells is by Sarah Addison Allen(same author as The Girl Who Chased the Moon). I enjoyed The Girl WCTM better, but this was very similar. It had a tinge of magic, but not the kind that makes you roll your eyes and hand it to your kid. Its the kind you want to think might really exist...and of course some romance. I don't like the word romance because it makes me think of those hairy, scary romance novels. Its not that, but she does get kinda descriptive, just a heads up. I read it really fast so I must have enjoyed it, kind of predictable but fun.

Any takers? No, why not!? This couch is a dream come true. Look at how it slouches and gaps. Just imagine yourself snuggled up on those cozy arm rests watching the final 2 hour episode of Lost. And for ONLY $10.00. I wish this were a joke.

I am browsing craigslist and this ad was the final kicker. A rage ran through my body and I was gritting my teeth. WHY!?! I was drafting an email to this fellow to tell him to stop wasting my time clicking on his ad and burn that piece of trash. But, I stopped. I turn into a monster sometimes while I browse KSL and Craigslist. I get so irritated with people putting up their ridiculous garbage, with ridiculous prices and slapping on a title like this, "adorable comfy couch $50.00" When really it's a nasty, floral doosy that you KNOW feels as grimy as it looks! Ok. I had to vent for a minute. I don't know what came over me, I feel better now. Thank you.

My people's people

Last month Scarlet made her first drawings of decipherable people. It made my DAY!! I watched her draw the head and put eyes on it and arms and legs and I just about exploded with GLEE. How can something like that make me so happy. If drawing a big headed alien person (duh they were princesses)makes my heart burst, how am I going to contain myself when she starts reading or writing her name!! Or heaven forbid, that far distant day she marches off with her little back pack to her first day of school. Enough. It is all just too much sometimes. Meet Scarlet's people.

Oh How I Love BOOKS

It happend again. I found a couple great books to read and even though its cold and NOT springy outside, I am handling it because I spent the last week reading two very wonderful books. I can't decide what it is about certain books that work for me. I don't know if there is a genre they fit into. I can't find them all in one section, or shelf or list. Its a hunt. I guess its like good music, it takes effort to find just the right kind that makes your heart happy. By the first chapter of a book I can tell if it is going to be a great experience. If I can't find another good book soon I will probably slip into mourning until the next love comes along. So if anyone has read something that will help me get through the next few rainy days make sure and let me know. I want to keep track of the good books I read, because... I don't know it may come in handy someday!?!

What a dear little story this is! Its about the lives of black maids and their white bosses around the civil rights movement. I like these stories because the whole time I question myself about what kind of person I would have been. It is an amazing story that gives such a personal side to this time in history. Just LOVED it!

This is a fun story that captured me somehow. It is MILDLY--notice the large caption--mildly similar to the feel of the Twilight series. Minus the DRAMA. It just reminded me of them slightly. Its not life changing, or really serious but it is a good story and I like the writing style and the dash of romance. It has just the right amounts of the things I like.

The End

**More of Heidi's book soon as I find another good book...lets hope SOON!
